Hi Rossana,

You have the same dream that millions of Italians have had for over
a hundred years. I am not sure of how difficult it will be to enter the
USA at this time, but will try and help.

Your age is considered young here in the U. S. and is no problem.
The first thing you must do is organize your plans in a list of objectives
and questions. These websites should be some help and I suggest
you also find some Italian-American Organizations to contact by letter mail
with your questions.

www.italconsulnyc.org
www.italyemb.org

I must admit that New York is probably the most exciting place to visit
but remember the U.S. is a very large country with many other places with
opportunity. The most important thing in the American culture for you
to remember is PERSISTENCE ( means, never give up).

If you find it to difficult to enter the U.S. I would suggest trying our wonderful
neighbor Canada (very beautiful country with many Italians) .

Let us know how you progress.

Good Luck,
2nd Generation Italian-American

Even though I am short on advice, best of luck to you Rossana. Only thing that I can suggest, is that you contact the below organizations that might be of some help:

Rossana...

If you are college educated, you shouldnt have much difficulty securing a position. I am sure the NYC school system would have a need for a musical instructor who speaks fluent Italian.

If you are a performer, there are many clubs in NYC that I am sure would welcome you. You will need to get a union card first and then I would suggest you pick up some of the trade papers and look for jobs.

Good luck in your search.

If I can help you in any other way, do not hesitate to Email me at [email protected]

Rosanna there is no better place in the entire world than NYC... the food, the entertainment, the music, theatre , arts, museums and boy the MEN if you can find any left that are single or cheating on their wives!!!! LOL

NYC is a terrific place, I miss it, I use to live here, chose a different path, made a life for me and my husband and our children in a different state, and live there, its nothing like the city... where it never sleeps...

You can find everything, and anything here, the sun goes up and down here, but its better than Las Vegas, we had here, food, all kinds here, the things to do, you never go bored here, from music, oh array of things to do...

I think your momma be mad at you for moving here, but you may find yourself a nice italiana boyfriend to bring home for the holidays... LOL

I love new york, planning on returning here in the fall for a wedding.... thats what most of us do, come back in the fall or the holidays, or funerals..

well I hope that tells you what you need to know about new york, You ,may want to call on Peter, he seems like to be the Tour Guide of NY.I bet he would not mind to take you and seeing the city... you never know how ,many good people are out here... I love italy too, but NY Is still NUMBER 1///////

Dear Rosanna You do not mention relatives in NYC so I have to assume your "on your own" so the best thing to do is contact the organziations that people have furnished you. NYC can best be described as being "A STATE IOF MIND". What I mean is that a native New Yorker is immediately known for being different, pushy but are also able to empower themselves to do what they wish in many social and job situations. Do not be ashamed to ask for what you want. "NO" is just an answer not a disaster. San francisco is a very pleasant city with hills with many pastel colors reminding one of a Pasticceria. For Italians it is an island for italian culture and excellent food on the west coast of America. Peter

Hi everybody!

Stay tuned

Rosaana

I say take a Vacation here before you decide to move.

New York isnt like the old days. Its very different.

Come here on vacation, then decide.

This city has turned into one big mess.

You might want to come here first before you move here.

Becareful who you lure you into meeting them. Always meet in a public place.

Trust Nobody! - Not even the US Government.

God Bless.
